Kim Kardashian – who is no stranger to being mommy-shamed – has once again angered the internet, this time for straightening daughter North West’s hair.

The five-year-old was spotted rocking a sleek, straight Ariana Grande style ponytail while out and about in New York… and the internet had a lot to say about it.

Critics were particularly confused over Kim K’s choices, as the reality TV star turned global businesswoman spoke of how proud she and North are of her naturally curly hair, and how hard they try to embrace it.

Kim even famously took hair styling lessons to learn how to braid black hair and how to style her daughter’s naturally curly locks…

"She’s obsessed with her curly hair, and if she finds someone who has the same hair, she runs to them and is like, 'You have curly hair like me?' And we get to talk about it,” she previously told Interview magazine.

The race aspect

The thing is, there is a racial aspect to all this.

We have all heard of the European beauty standards. Even at workplaces, black hair has been considered "unprofessional and unkempt". So some people have been forced to straighten their hair so that they don't suffer consequences that come with it.

Looking at it that way, people might argue that Kim is trying to make the child look more white. That way, she can get to enjoy the privileges that come with being white.

Cue the social media criticism…

    This is coming almost a year late lol, I understand why she did it, managing black kinky hair is not for the faint hearted, it the easy way out, I understand. I dont think she should have been shamed though, many many black mothers do thesame. There are many products out there now and tutorials on youtube to help manage black kinky hair

Sacrificed his mom, wore a dress on stage, stated " I sold my soul to the devil", made a song with artist " The Game" called " wouldn't get far" about tramps and how's but then turns around and marrys one.........

    Kim K got Trump to set a black woman free the other week. And she's trying to get a black man's case reviewed who she believes could be innocent. She's putting in work, so in my humble opinion she can straighten her kid's hair if she wants. I don't see none of y'all complaining about how Meghan Markle straightened her hair from what it used to look like.

    Who really cares? It's her child and they can do whatever they want to to her hair. If people would worry more about homeless veterans more than celebrities hair or fashion this country would be a better place.

    I thought it was an age thing. My mother told me you shouldn't straighten ( hot comb) a chld's hair until they were 8 or 9 to avoid damage. Even then, not that often. Whatever, people always want to fuss about something, and it's usually none of their business. I think my daughter was 12 the first time her hair was hard pressed.

Kim straightening her daughters hair is just simply a versatility in style as majority WOMEN, GIRLS, FASHIONISTAS do. Please get over it. Next topic: any suggestions to solving world hunger???

    It's funny how people have so much to say about someone eles childern We as black women will not tolerate anyone saying any thing about how we fix there hair , or even talking about the way mom's dressing there kids. Black women will dress or do there kids hair how ever they want it there kids What I look like telling how to part your child hair , that's crazy it's not your , and she doesn't tell you anything about your cause they not her's .let people raise there own kids , mind your own!!!!

    Now Kim gets a taste of what the liberal left is really all about. While so many black women wear “hair hats” (weaves) or even straightening their own hair with flat irons and hair grease to make themselves appear as if they have hair like a white, Latin or Asian woman, the “race appropriation” crying liberals only attack other non-blacks for doing something similar. If Kim was a black woman, no one would be saying anything about how she styles her own child’s hair. Gotta love them hypocrites...I mean liberals.
