I have 4 mixed daughters. Yes all girls two older and 2 younger. I teach them to say I'm American And I'm loved by both me parents. Their skin tone looking black to looking white. I love my daughters very much. I would do anything for them. And by the way it doesn't matter the color what matters is the person and how they treat you

I had a bonehead black female look at my mixed daughter and ask, "Why didn't you have a black baby?"; who says black people aren't racist? I told her it was the same reason why her highly intelligent mother wound up with an asinine brat like her, we as parents were chosen by God to raise the children He blessed us with. I saw her again with another woman and her friend oohed and aahed over my daughter and that cow asked me if she was the same baby she saw me with "last time". I answered yes, just like her children will be stuck with the shrew they have as a mother for eighteen years; Heaven help them!

Number one thing to never, ever say to a mixed person: "So you're black, right?" Never assume that a person adheres to the one-drop rule; it's racist in and of itself, regardless of who invokes it. Asking if a person is adopted isn't offensive, and isn't meant that way. Asking if a brown mom is the nanny IS offensive and clearly meant to be such.

It's actually kinda racist. If I'm black because my both parents are black, then I think I'm both black and white because my parents are of those races yeah? No one should define your race for you, you are who you are

You don't have to be mixed to be somewhat taken aback when someone says you speak English well. I think it's way more insulting when they say this to a dark skinned or brown skinned black American. It's like they always think we're going to sound like thugs and hoodrats based on certain prejudices about how we look and where we are from. Some don't realize that black people are more complex than that. The reason why I singled out black Americans is because most people don't seem that surprised when black West Indians or black Africans speak English well.

Or it could be meant as a genuine, albeit hamfisted, complement; some people are incredibly erudite in comparison to the average American, regardless of colour.

For 16 things to never say about a mixed person, many of these are things I get asked all the time! Now-a-days for the most part it doesn't bother me especially if the person seems genuinely curious and not just trying to be rude, also children are curious by nature and I get some interesting questions from them when they see me with my daughter. As I said though it doesn't bother me anymore, because I know how I am when I'm trying to figure something out or I'm really interested in something and I don't want anyone to feel ashamed or taboo asking me a question because really how can they learn or try to understand if we don't help enlighten them when they try??

I am a retired teacher, and I have always stated that biracial relationships demonstrate the best of both races. Further, no race is pure, and always be proud of who you are. As for black racist and white racist, you're both in the same boat and seeking fast. Last, I love my complexion and my grey hair. Because, cute close to my roots, my hair is soft, curly and wavy. Therefore, I am thankful for everything that God blessed me with. The racial mixing will stop racism. Therefore, the Black and White Racist know it and hate it. And, I love it. Power to the People!

Thanks for your wonderful comments. Now I know what to say to a black and white racist. They think that they are always right and everyone else is wrong, but they don't realize that we all are children of god. Stay strong sister, and peace.

Whenever someone tries to goad a black Detroit pastor into race baiting, he resists by saying: "There are two races. One is racing to Heaven. One is racing to hell. Both are thoroughly integrated".
